Decoding Riyadh Air’s inaugural network
Decoding Riyadh Air’s inaugural network - I’ve been tracking their first aircraft, Jamila, since she touched down in RUH on Jan 18, and I still try to spot her every morning on my drive to the airport.
Since then, she has flown to 12 cities across Europe, South Asia, and the Middle East as part of a series of proving flights, training flights, showcase missions and readiness checks.
Two of those stops, London and Dubai have already been announced as Riyadh Air's first destinations. The others may well HINT at Riyadh Air’s initial network blueprint.
Europe: London 🇬🇧, Paris 🇫🇷, Istanbul 🇹🇷, Athens 🇬🇷
Middle East: Dubai 🇦🇪, Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪, Cairo 🇪🇬
Saudi Domestic: Jeddah, Dammam, Medina, Red Sea
South Asia: Mumbai 🇮🇳
To clarify:
>Paris coincided with the Paris Airshow.
>Red Sea aligned with the signing of a strategic alliance with Red Sea Global, though RSI itself is unlikely to feature among the early commercial routes.
>Abu Dhabi possibly aligns with MRO visits
(This isn’t an analytical piece. I’ve stayed away from market sizing or traffic dynamics but rather a visual record of Jamila’s journey so far and what it might signal for Riyadh Air’s first network wave.)
