Strategic Bearing is the personal site of Kevin Jose. It covers airlines, airports and the economics underneath both, written across four lenses: Flightpath, Boardroom, Capital and Wisdom. Alongside the writing there are free tools built from public regulatory documents.
A landing charge is revenue on one side of the table and a cost line on the other. I have sat on both sides, and advised from outside them. At CAPA that meant privatisation bids and tariff cases for airport operators, and network, fleet and cost plans for airlines. flynas put me inside the airline. Riyadh Airports put me back on the infrastructure side, working on corporate strategy for King Khalid International. Before any of it, I was a journalist at Reuters, covering oil and commodities.
