April '26 KSA fleet update: It's raining planes in Saudi Arabia πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¦βœˆοΈ

KSA's commercial fleet is set to triple, from ~260 aircraft today to over 850. With 593 aircraft on order, Saudi carriers are placing bets that will define the region's aviation landscape for the next two decades.

Four carriers. Four different stories.

>Saudia is essentially a renewal play. 126 outstanding orders against 148 in service. The 787s progressively retire the ageing A330s and older 777 classics, while A321neos , particularly XLRs open thin long-haul routes. Meanwhile, Saudia is reportedly in advanced negotiations for an additional ~150 jets, which would be its largest order in history. Its first A321XLR (HZ-ASBA) is in the pre-delivery phase.

>Flyadeal has 66 orders against a 46-aircraft fleet. The headline number is 20 A330neos - a widebody bet that signals this is no longer a regional LCC play.

>Flynas is swinging hardest - 219 orders against 66 in service. It doesn't get the attention it deserves, but at this scale, it will be a transformational force in Saudi aviation.

Both Saudi LCCs are now in the widebody game. Indications are that these aircraft - likely in a two-class layout including Premium Economy - will be deployed on high-density routes linking the Kingdom with key labour, religious, and VFR corridors across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and possibly Africa (including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, India and Pakistan.) F3’s A330s would be among the densest in the World with 420 seats. Two-class cabin: 406 Economy and 14 Premium Economy seats.

>Riyadh Air is awaiting its first 787 deliveries; early indications point to ~12 aircraft in 2026, with A321s coming in from early 2027.

Here's the tension the order books don't show: Boeing's production constraints and Airbus's delivery backlog mean the gap between ambition and realisation is wide. 593 aircraft on order is a vision. When and whether they arrive on schedule will determine how much of that vision lands this decade.
